Toothpick Ornaments

Items Needed:

A box of rounded toothpicks

Scissors

Pencil

Clear glue stick

Old Christmas cards

1 sheet of cardboard

Spool of thread

Directions

Take Cardboard and cut out a medium sized square.

Pick out an old Christmas Card.

Using Cardboard Square lay over a picture on the Christmas card that you would like to frame.

Take Pencil, and trace around the cardboard square, leaving a square mark on the Christmas card.

Using Scissors, cut the lines drawn on the Christmas card, until the picture is cut completely out.

Using glue stick, apply glue to outside edges of Christmas card.

Using toothpicks, place three at a time on top of glue, making a picture frame.

Allow the glue to dry

When Glue is dry, attach thread to top of frame, tie, and knot. Be sure to leave a loop big enough to hang from tree.

Manger

You can also build a Manger from toothpicks.

Take a square piece of cardboard and cut evenly into five (5)

Pieces.

You should have: 1 piece for the roof, 1 for the floor,

And 3 for the walls.

Take twelve flat head thumbtacks, and place 6 of them

Through the edges of both the roof and the floor.

(Use two on each side. Make sure that the point of each thumbtack comes completely through cardboard. You will be using these to attach the walls of the manger.)

Glue toothpicks to 4 pieces. The toothpick will make up the outside of the walls and the roof.

(You will be gluing toothpicks over the thumbtacks used on the roof, so make sure they are securely in place.)

Once glue has dried and the toothpicks are secure, take 1 of the sides and attach to one side of the bottom piece, attaching securely to thumbtack, so that it stands straight up.

REPEAT WITH OTHER TWO SIDES.

Next, take roof, and push thumbtacks down into sides.

Your stable should now be standing freely. If it is wobbly, try attaching some more thumbtacks up through the bottom and into the sides.

Next, take some stray or hay and apply to bottom of Manger.

(Your Manger can be as large or small, as you like.)

If you have a large Manger, take a few Wiseman, Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in a crib and place inside manger.

If your Manger is small, have Shepherds with sheep, Wiseman, and other animals positioned around the outside of the Manger as if looking inside.
